Recorded with my cousins from 255at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios and Troublemekka Studios in Kingston, NOT FROM THERE moves through the full spectrum of Jamaican music today – from Dancehall and Reggae to the sounds pushing the culture forward right now.

This project means a lot to me.
Jamaica has shaped my musical life for decades, and NOT FROM THERE is about connection, collaboration and respect – being part of the music while always knowing where you come from.

TIELO LANEZ SHOOTAH DEM (ACOUSTIC REMIX)

During the recording sessions for the upcoming Skyscraper Stereo EP Not From Therein Kingston, Jamaica, we connected with Dancehall artist Tielo Lanez, one of the island’s most exciting emerging voices.

Inspired by the idea that a great song can stand on its own with nothing more than a voice and a guitar, we decided to reimagine his track Shootah Demin its most stripped-back form.

Together with Kingston guitarist GSharp and producer 255, we recorded an intimate acoustic version that reveals a different side of Tielo’s songwriting – raw, honest and emotional.

JQUAN - LOVE X2 (Acoustic Remix)

During the recording sessions for the upcoming Skyscraper Stereo EP Not From Therein Kingston, Jamaica, we crossed paths with Dancehall artists Tielo Lanez and Jquan — two voices currently making serious waves in Jamaica’s clubs and on its streets.

As we spent time talking about music, songwriting and creative influences, it became clear just how underrated the craft of Jamaican Dancehall songwriting still is outside of Jamaica.

Legendary songwriter Harlan Howard once described a great song as:

"Three chords and the truth."

Inspired by that idea, we decided to strip everything back to its essence:
just voice and guitar.

One phone call to Kingston guitarist GSharp later, and less than 24 hours afterwards, the concept became reality.

Together with 255 behind the camera and engineering desk, we captured two intimate live performances that reveal Dancehall from a completely different perspective — raw, emotional and honest.
